airplane and ferry

Has there ever been a situation when the airport (STT) was open and planes were flying and the Cruz Bay ferry was not in service? I ask this because of the tropical disturbance that seems to be on the way to the USVI, would not like to miss a flight because of having no ferry service. Thanks, Rastasc

Happened the summer of 2011 after Hurricane Earl. Our flight was leaving but the Coast Guard had closed the ports on ST. Thomas due to debris in the water.
We could not get a ferry from STJ not even a private one. No problem with USAir they understood our problem and we stayed on STJ for two extra days. No problem there! Any time on STJ is great.
