Cruiserkcs - Response to Calypso Del Sol Questions

Post by Ryn »

I thought I would start a new thread on questions asked:

1) The villa I believe has internet access. We didn't use it, if I remember right Lisa said that the connection was in the master bedroom and you had to disconnect the fax line.

2) Beach towels are provided. Each bedroom had two rolled up on the bed when we got there.

3) Beach chairs, definately. They have a quite a few and different styles too.

4) Umbrella we found down in the laundry room. Along with this, I was able to find a pair of fins to wear for the week snorkeling. Descent too. We rented the remainder of the gear in town.

Calypso is a great villa. Very comfortable, well stocked with everything. When we arrived, there was a few bottles of booze, welcome snacks in the fridge, and many staples, etc. Make sure you look around before you head to the store.

Each bedroom is very similar. The only difference is upstairs the bedroom/bath has a cathedral ceiling and the bath has one extra window. Otherwise, they are very comparable. Great for couples traveling together. No couple felt like they got the not so good room.

The villa also has a selection of 15 - 20 DVDs, a selection of CDs, a CD player/radio, towels and extra towels in each bath, blankets, air in each bedroom that works great. There are also banana trees on the property that are producing. A bit early for us when we were there Mid April, but neat.

The pool is great as well as the hot tub. All furniture and patio furniture is is good shape. The flowers and foliage around is lush. It looks like they planted more trees on the side by the pool so it will continue to get more so in the future.

I would have to say that my only slight gripe about this place is that it is right on the road. When we were there up on the hill behind us is construction and they were milling rocks on and off throughout the day. I understand that this can also be heard all around them as well as across the bay, etc. Something you can't get away from. But the trucks could get a bit loud at times. However, we were not at the villa too much during the day and the construction did not go too late in the day. As I said, this was only a slight gripe. Nothing that would prevent me from renting the villa.

Hope this helps with your questions, I remember I was the same way :) If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Hi Ryn,

On behalf of the Cruisers, I would like to thank you for this info! They are staying at Calypso in a couple of weeks, and then we are right behind them the first of June! You have answered a lot of the questions we have.

Did you use the grill outside? One question I always have concerns the kitchen. Since I like to cook, are there any SHARP knives there? Every place we stay, they seem to have the most dull knives ever! I end up tearing tomatoes, hacking at patatoes, and forget about meat!

Thanks again for the info, and I'll probably have a couple of mor questions in the near future. I might have to PM you.

CariBert:

There is a new Weber grill on the top porch. It is right outside the kitchen. We used it a couple of times, no problems. It's just like our one at home.

As far as the knives go, I would have to say that yes they are dull. I don't remember the steak knives being bad. Although we ate fish so that didn't require their use. The other knives were rather dull.

Any other ?? feel free to ask :)
