Private Chef... with children?

Post by bdkane »

Hi All, has anyone every hired a private chef AND had children around? I wonder if this would take away from the experience?

I was considering Teds as a splurge for a dinner for 4, myself and my wife along with my in-laws (their anniversary) BUT I will have my 2 children ages 12 and 6 buzzing around... They are behaved and have been to some nice restaurants but im concerned in a villa - they may be to comfortable and feel they dont "Have" to behave... Does anyone have any experience/opinion they could share - Thanks :)

I would recommend Mathayom of STJOHNCATERING.com

He has a ittle guy and I am sure he is used to having one in the kitchen!

Plus, his food is AWESOME!

You could consider having a babysitter come and stay with the kids for a little while so you can have a peaceful dinner. Someone on the forum has used a babysitting service and I remember they had a good experience.

Second the recommend for St. John Catering. I had them drop off the food with the fish raw rather than staying (it's the same price) just because I did not know when we would want to eat. Everything was delicious, and there was a TON of food. There was just enough fish for that night's meal, but enough sides that we have eaten them twice so far and we still have an unopened thing of rice and another of squash. I don't think it matters if you have kids-- it's your villa,, you won't be bothering anyone if the kids want to run around or whatever.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
