Probably unnecessary to jump on the 2-jeep bandwagon at this point, but I'll add that we just got back from a week on STJ with just two couples and can think of at least one example of needing two cars on almost every day of the trip.

In fact, I'd even encourage you to push for one jeep per couple. After about a day or so, the other couple really got a feel for the island and was ready to exert some independence....could have been my DEET infused aftershave too :D

Last note...big fan of Bay Rum Breeze, but I think one of the bedrooms has two twin beds. Maybe they can be pushed together, but if not, that means one couple is sleeping Fred & Wilma style.

Yes, one of the bedrooms at Bay Rum Breeze has twin beds. They can be pushed together to make a king but when my sister slept in it that way she found it uncomfortable and just slept on one side.

In 2007, we stayed at Calypso Del Sol in Chocolate Hole. Very nice comfortable villa, 3 equal bedrooms, great views, screen room (plus), alot of outdoor covered porch space, large pool and hot tub. I believe you can find it at www.calypsodelsol.com.

Thank you to all my wonderful Forumites!!! Sorry for not responding before this but I work Tues - Thurs, 12 hour shifts and a total of 1 hr drive there and back, and on those days I do nothing but work. I barely see my husband.

I've put all of your villa suggestions into a word doc. and will start checking them out. I am just trying to get my ducks in a row, so once we have a meeting about this, I'll have information to share with them.

We travel w/ these 2 couples every year and we are pretty much on the same schedules. But, going to STJ and hiking and swimming/snorkeling, eating, etc., is a heck of a lot different than going to our special little island in Fla., renting a house on the beach, buying fresh seafood and cooking daily, and basically setting up our gazebos chairs for a week and not budging...unless to play beach bocci ball...well, I dunno, I hope STJ works for us...but

...the selfish part of my wants to keep STJ for myself, but I love my Besties and want to share with them the beauty that STJ is.

Again, thanks so much! :D

Coden, we had the same concerns before our recent trip and that was with one other couple and their kids...I can imagine 3 couples can get even more complicated when it comes to the always fun, "what are we doing today?" And usually it's not the what that is complicated, but the when.

Invariably, I think you'll have two kinds of St. John-ers in your group...the "up with the sun daylight burners" and the "sleep-in coffee clutchers." I'm a daylight burner. I can't get enough of St. John. My wife is more of the coffee clutcher and she can attest, I will pace the villa like a kid outside a candy store when I feel like I have to wait to take on the island...and that makes everybody miserable.

Our solution and one you might like to try...the 10am breakfast.

Basically, we just agreed as a group that this is what time we'd all get together to eat breakfast at the villa. It allowed the speed merchants like me the freedom to get up ridiculously early and go for a run, hike, adventure without feeling guilty for taking a car. It allowed the others to sleep in, read a book, actually enjoy life at a reasonable pace.

Then we all enjoyed breakfast and took on the rest of the day together.

You and your Besties may not be quite as far apart on the vacation spectrum as our group was, but it might be worth a try if you find that you are.

Cheers.
