Relocating to St. John for UVI- Rental ??

Post by atill »

Hi, I'm relocating in August UVI position and looking for place to rent. Are any of the places listed on Craig's list legitimate? Is 2 Rem Adrian 00830 St. John even near the Marketplace? How about the apartments at 16 C Enighead Cruz Bay St. John? Is
"renting out the apartment due to my Job transfer to United Kingdom .I was transfer down to London and work with Ever Green Shipping Company on 3years contract" REAL or just made up? Just trying to figure out what is legit and what is not. Already checking the Tradewinds for places too. Feedback from those who have knowledge on this is appreciated! Ashley

I can't answer your question, but you may want to post it on the Relocation Forum, you might get other people viewing it there who can help you.

craigslist can be hard . sometimes things are perfectly legit other times.....not so... I would exercise caution, and look in the trade winds news for rentals as well!
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

Living in STJ - however you find a comfortable home - will be a really long commute to UVI in STT - certainly doable but a time constraint that may well wear you out - and cost you some serious dough.

I agree with Exit - if you will be at UVI you really need to be on STT.

For example, if you need to be at UVI by 8:30am you would need to be on the 6am ferry - the 7am ferry would get you to Red Hook at 7:20am/7:25am and that would only give you 1 hour to get to UVI in "traffic" - might be doable but if you needed to be there earlier than 8:30am you would be in trouble - so basically you would be adding at least 3 to 4 hours per day in commute time (roundtrip)

Also think an additional $16 per day ($80.00 per week) in transportation and where would you leave your car in Cruz Bay daily?

Trust me it sounds like fun but taking a ferry then a public bus to UVI daily would get old really quickly.

Hi i saw the same responses regarding those two apartments. Did some digging and found them both to be bogus. Old addage is correct...too good to be true it probably is. I too am looking to relocate and have had no luck on Craigslist (read: 9 unanswered emails). The only two responses came from both apts you mentioned.

If anyone has knowledgd of a long term rental it would be much appreciated. I would like to be situated by September 1st latest. I will be going down ahead of my gf and she will be meeting me in January. Around $1200/month, furnished would be ideal. Cruz bay aread would be convenient but love coral bay too.
