How to post a picture?

Post by Bonny in CA »

It should be easy, but when I click the "Img" button, nothing happens except the word Img appears in my text. How do I navigate to my pictures and upload one to a new post?

You can't load pictures directly onto this web site....you need to have them loaded on another picture hosting internet site, and then link the picture from that site to this site. Get it?

I didn't think so.....here's what I do.....

I have my pics loaded on Picasa.....then when you pull up a specific picture on that site there will be an option to the right of the pic that says "link to this photo". I can pick the picture size there, I usually use medium 640 x 640.....then once I choose the picture size, I highlight the "embed image" address....and that is the address that I use to post on this forum. I think I do hit the "img" icon here before I paste the embed image address.

You can use other picture hosting sites also, some use Flickr....they all work in a similar way I believe.

good luck!

A few similar thoughts...

Posting photos... below are some previous posts that may help. To start, your pics need to be uploaded onto a site such as tinypic.com, flickr.com, picasa.com or photobucket.com
Instructions on copying the code from a specific site, which is then inserted into a post, might be found in one of the earlier questions/answers in the posts below...

I use a Mac with the Firefox browser, and Flickr.com is where my photos are. I usually have two windows open... one for Flickr and one for the forum.

bring up the pic in Flickr
click on "Share this"
click on "Grab the HTML and BBCode" and copy the BBCode
paste into posting box here on VIOL and check your preview, then post

Good luck!

This website was revised in mid-2012 and some photos were lost and posting instructions changed, so some of the above may not be valid. The Flickr instructions have been edited today... March 11, 2013

Post deleted because none of the information was valid after a website revision in mid-2012.

I am impressed! I've made a few quilts. It looks like she took a lot of time on this wall hanging.
