Where to stay in St. Croix

Post by susa01 »

i am visiting St. Croix in hopes of moving to there or St. Thomas, and I am hoping to learn a little bout the different areas. Where is the best place to stay to meet locals who can give me an idea about living in St. Croix.

Thanks

susa, I'm curious as to the responses you'll get. Though this is USVI travel forum, we rarely get much STX info on this board. I met a few ex-pats in Coral Bay who'd moved to STJ years ago from STX, for various reasons. Everybody said how beautiful STX was, the diving and snorkeling was even better then STJ. On the flip side, I've also heard from all of them that that the crime/crack problem was very serious. Also, the couple who ran Ten Tables, when it got great accolades on this board, moved to STX a couple of years ago to start a new place. Funny, I never gave STX much thought until last fall when, on a clear day, iwas sitting on Lameshur and could see STX in the distance and it seemed to be calling my name. I'm thinking about checking it out.

The best site for moving information to any Island can be found at the link below - read all you can and then ask questions.

Good luck

Thanks for the info.

I have visted the moving center, Vi now, VI net and various other informational sites created to assist in relocating to VI. I even bought a setttlers guide....

However, I found that it is almost impossible to know how something is until actually are there for a while.

I guess I am mainly hoping my quick trip next week will at least help me to know what areas to concentrate my housing search on. (and what areas to avoid)

Thanks Everybody!

Pia you're killing me!!! :)

We have our own site/blog and forum about moving to and living in the Virgin Islands:

Website/blog: <a href="http://www.virginislandsmls.com/"><b>ht ... om/</b></a> There is a lot of good stuff there that I wrote with my wife. Plus, it is a blog so you can ask questions/leave comments on the topics/articles - like <a href="http://www.virginislandsmls.com/2007/04 ... Relocating to the U.S. Virgin Islands: Services - Water, Garbage, Power and Gas</b></a>

This is the main section for moving and relocation: <a href="http://www.virginislandsmls.com/relocat ... ><b>Moving to the Virgin Islands</b></a>

Forum: <a href="http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/f ... ><b>Virgin Islands relocation forum</b></a>

All we need is some more participation!!!

Pia, I thought you might get spanked for that!
BTW- Have you ever gone over to STX since you moved to STJ, or before then for that matter? The illusion I have is that from a tourist's point of view,it's more resort oriented then STJ, though there are villa rentals for a bit less then STJ.
