Michigan Girls trip report part two
Part one :http://www.virgin-islands-on-line.com/f ... 897#257897
04/12/12 - Full day two
My goal for today was sea turtles. With this in mind, we headed out to Maho.

As soon as we got our stuff set down, we saw a ray swimming back and forth in the shallow right in front of us - that was cool. He was patrolling there pretty much all day

Then it must have been breakfast time for the tarpon and pelicans, because a feeding frenzy commenced right at the shoreline for about 10 minutes - cool. The water was a little colder than we would have liked, but we had our big girl panties on, so we dealt with it. After the obnoxious kids behind us got too annoying, we decided to start our snorkel. We were way down by the community building, so we took the long swim down to the right side. Just when it seemed like we weren't going to see much, there he was. My first sea turtle - awesome!

I followed him around for awhile, then we headed over to the shoreline. Not a lot going on there, so we decided to head back. The trip back was amazing, 4 more turtles, 2 of whom I dove down and was able to swim close to. A very large ray who didn't seem very happy with me, so I decided to back off. And some starfish.

All in all, it was a great day at Maho for us. By about 2 we had all the heat we could take for the day, so headed into Cruz Bay to buy fixins for dinner.
04/13/12 Full day three
Having taken in lots of sun and sand the previous two days, and planning on an all day snorkel charter tomorrow we decided to give our skin a break from the beach today. We headed into Cruz Bay for the day. Started the day off at Baked in the Sun. We split a Turkey Aoili sandwich which was so amazingly good, their fresh bread was to die for. Finished up with a shared lemon bar -yummy! Did some shopping at Mongoose and Warfside, then had drinks at High Tide.

More shopping, then back up the hill to the Jeep. Stopped in at ACC to visit the dogs and drop off some treats - wish I could take them all home! Back over to Coral Bay for dinner at Aqua Bistro. Were glad we chose to sit at the bar, as there was quite a downpour for awhile. Had their famous Ponzu Tuna, which totally lived up to the hype. Sherry had the buffalo grouper sandwich which was also really good. We intended to have just a drink at the bar before heading back to the cabana, but ran into the most fun group of frenchmen from a french merchant navy vessel, so we ending up talking to them for a good long time and enjoying more super yummy cocktails. Got to dust off my rusty french, I'm always amazed that I still remember it, so that was good. Sorry, no other pictures for today, I took a break from the camera.
