I've seen a couple of "brides to be" carry them right on the plane. It's a great conversation starter too! Congrats!

Thanks Julie, are there closets on a plane in order to hang it up? :D

I carried mine on the plane in the garment bag - granted it was 5 years ago. A flight attendent took it and hung it in a closet - no problem at all. There was even another lady on the plane that had a dress too. I was so nervous about it, but it really wasn't a big deal. I'm sure it still wouldn't be an issue. My husband and I were married on Hawksnest Beach and are actually returning for our 5 year anniversary this May.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Congratulations to you! How did you like being married on Hawksnest beach? Anne Marie Porter made that suggestion as well as Cinnamon Bay. We are still undecided but any input would be extremely helpful. :)

I have never seen a bride have a problem with bringing the dress onto the plane. The cabin crews and fellow passengers have always been very accomodating.

I flew out of my home airport with a couple who was going through Atlanta and on to STT. I noticed them getting on the plane with the garment bag and telling the FA about their plans. I talked to them and learned that they had to get to the office in time to pick up their license before closing time. I connected them with Rachel to improve their chances.

The people around you on the plane will help you get to where you are going and help you have a great wedding.

Suzanne, we loved getting married at Hawksnest. It was a morning wedding and we had the beach to ourselves. We picked the spot next to the rocks on the right side of the beach (if you're looking at the water). I loved the contrast between the white sandy beaches and the dark rocks. Here's a link to our photos from the trip, if you want to see some of our wedding pics. http://flic.kr/s/aHsiNtGZtr

p.s. Anne married us too!

Suzi,

We were married on St. John in May 2001. I carried my gown on and the flight attendant hung it in First class for me. Anne Marie married us at sunset on Trunk Bay. We LOVED her - she is awesome.

Best wishes to you!

I was married in Belize in 2011 and I also had no problem getting my gown there. I put it in a garment bag and let the women at the counter know about it prior to boarding. They let me board first and put it in a closet near the entry. No one is allowed access to the closets so your dress will be safe. Congrats!

I also got married in STJ (on top of Peace Hill) last August. We flew down on a Delta flight and I was able to put my dress in the first class closet. There was another bride on the flight and the groomsmen, so the closet was PACKED...but it was a-okay!
You can get your dress steamed at the laundrymat once you are down there if you're worried about wrinkles.
Congrats and best of luck with your planning!
