Parking at Sapphire?

Post by suzyabbott »

Hi! We're heading down March 10-17 and plan to spend a day at sapphire beach for snorkeling. We've never been there before and wanted to find out where we park for a day visit? Are there chairs that can be rented for the day? bathrooms? restaurant?

We always end up going to our "home" beach at bluebeards or over to Magens, so we're trying to expand our horizons this trip and try out some new spots!

Thanks!!

Hi there,

Yes there is parking available to beach goers. There is a security booth at then entrance, you just tell them you are visiting the beach and they will tell you where to park. There are chairs available to rent for the day as well as a snorkel booth for snorkel/water toys to rent. I would stay away from the available bathrooms. Some of the buildings at SBR have been under litigation and not have been up kept, and the bathrooms are one of them. There is a food stand between buildings B & C a the resort called The Banana Cabana which serves drinks/burgers/Salads etc. Very good food. There are also beach runners from other near by restaurants. The snorkeling is some of the best on the islands, and the beach is stunning, you'll have a great time!

We like Lindquist beach, small quiet and good snorkeling.
Limited facilities, they were supposed to build bathrooms and concessions-They have a porta john there.
but as of last year,no go.
Fine with us,we bring our own beverages and last year got a great sub sandwich from the Marina Market in Redhook.
They have a limited numer of chairs to rent (6 ?) so get there early ?

Thanks everyone, we're SO ready to go!! Another question, anyone know how to get to Latitude 18? we were going to try it last trip, but they had closed, I understand they are open again and we want to give it a go! is it appropriate for 40 somethings or is it a "kids" nightclub. Just looking for something different to do besides be in by by 9!

Thanks!!!

Latitude 18 is for all ages. To get there, take rt 322 (road to ritz, secret harbor etc) off of 32 in Red Hook, once on 322, take first left on to Vessup Dr. You will then take another left onto (there is a small "Latitude 18" sign so you know where you are going) a long, bumpy, dirt road. This will take you directly to Latitude 18!

Scoob, where do you snorkel at Linquist?

Also, the Lattitude 18 sign is very hard to find. It's little, so take your time and make sure you see it.
