Caneel Trailside Cottage Information

Post by bdkane »

Hi All, It looks like we will be fortunate enough to get away to STJ this spring, I came across a villa I had not seen before, Caneel Trailside Cottage, it looks great and I see some great reviews on the forum but most from years ago, does anyone have any current experience staying there they could share,

Im a little concerned with its proximity to the Caneel trail? is it literally off a trial where we should expect people strolling by constantly?

Im having a problem figuring out exactly where its located, even an area- like gift hill/cruz bay/virgin grande... I just cant put a finger on it,

anyway, any info, new or old would be much appreciated...

We stayed there last May. It was a very nice villa. It was also very comfortable. We did not see one hiker the whole time we were there. The pool is in the back of the house. The views are ok, but we missed the views of Cruz Bay. On a clear day you can see St Croix. There was construction going on next door to us which was supposed to be done by the time we arrived, but it was not. The biggest inconvenience was that there was noise early morning. It wasn't too big of a problem since we are early risers. We kept the ac on to block the noise as well as the early morning wake up from the roosters. The construction should certainly be completed by now. The management company was very responsive when one of the ceiling fans didn't work. It was also a very manageable trip to Cruz Bay. Let me know if you have any questions.

Regarding the location, it's in upper Pastory, just on the south side of the Caneel HIll ridge. The nearby construction does not appear to be completed quite yet, there is an enormous multi-pod villa going in.
