OMG that is a HUGE spider on Peace Hill! I didn't know what liven in those holes. Going to be a bit nervous when we go back up there- I'm not a fan of big hairy spiders!!

Love the octopus pic!

SOonthebeach- Hi! Yes, I didn't know what was in those holes either. I went up there and there happened to be a man working up there and I asked him. I wished I never asked! :) I have been up there many times and have never seen any spiders. I did enjoy seeing the octopus! The way it changed colors was really amazing! Thanks!

Thank you! I enjoy all the pics on this site and now that I have a trip date I become a little obsessed and it starts all over again...lol! I am sure you all know how that is! As many times that I have been to St. John, each trip is like my first and I get excited like a kid at Christmas!

This is not from my last trip, but one of my favorites. Site A11 at Maho Bay! I loved staying there!

Loved this basket that I purchased! Still have it in my kitchen!

What beautiful pictures! My youngest was 4 months old when we first visited the VIs and we've been back every year since. He just turned 14. You won't likely be traveling light but it's so worth it. Have a ball.

Hi Agent99,

Thanks! The baby will be nine months by the time we travel. This time we rented a house because we anticipate spending more time there than what we're used to. Thanks to Mrs. Pete (Marcia) for her villa recommedation! :) I used a Fuji finepix XP underwater camera. Most of the pics didn't come out great but since I have a Flickr account, I used their autofix feature and it did wonders!

Thank-you John Thomas for the pictures! We have been home one week from St. John and we are missing the island also! I am going to do a trip report but I am awaiting pictures from my brother-in law. We were the newbies and were so thankful to have had them to show us the island. I am usually a good photographer but on this trip I was a jinx to my cameras! I did something to my big Nikon and my new AW100 underwater nikon lasted two days in the water and was done. My husband made fun of me for taking 3 cameras and after I ruined two, he took the fuji underwater camera from me and that is what he used the rest of the trip. I must say he did do a good job with what he had to work with. We are making plans for next years trip. So I guess we get what everyone is talking about!!!

ShaSHa- I feel your pain..I start missing St. John on the first day of my trip... :( I look forward to your trip report as all the others on this site! It's a great way to re-live your trip over and over!!!! Don't feel too bad about the camera. My underwater camera broke on a trip once and my regular camera! Thank god for memories! :)

Hi ShaSha! I was researching the Nikon AW100 this morning. Do you mind telling me what went wrong :( ? I'm a Canon gal, but I've read so many bad things about the D10 that I'm scared to get it. I keep hoping the newer version will come out before we leave in May, but I'm losing hope and looking at other brands. We are only taking 1 big camera so we will be using the point and shoot quite a bit.

I've also thought about the Panasonic T3. Do you have any experience with that?

Thanks!

I've been back from STJ for 3 months now, and still can't stop thinking about it every single day!!
Last year, we used a disposable underwater camera, that was not worth the expense. I do plan to go back later this year and have been looking at the Nikon AW100 also... What happened to it?

Fantastic Pictures! Except for the spider - I loved every one. I am terrified, I mean terrified of spiders and never thought about them on St. John until I realized on a hike on trip 9 - "OH MY GOD - those are spider holes!!" Sure as heck within days....my son was in the jacuzzi one evening and kept feeling something brush his arm and sure enough it was a HUGE TARANTULA who had fallen in the water. As terrified as I am, I can't kill anything so we fished him out and sent him on his way.....I hope to heaven the spider Gods remember my kindness.
