STX newbie needs advice!

Post by SOonthebeach »

Hi everyone- I am visiting from the STJ forum ;-) We are headed to STX for 4 days in February- wanted to check it out before we go to STJ for the 8 Tuff miles road race.

First timers to STX (we have been to STJ 13+ times). We are staying at the Renaissance Carambola and we have rented a car. We're arriving on a Saturday and leaving on a Thursday. That's about all I know!

Any advice on "not to miss" things to see and do? We love beaches, wandering, limin' beach bars, and some snorkeling. We are open to sailing trips. We are very casual as far as eating. There are 4 of us- 2 couples; no kids.

Any advice would be fantastic! Thanks everyone. Looking forward to discovering STX!

Here's a bunch of stuff. Have a great time - Carambola is pretty far "out there" to the west. Be sure to grab a slice at Off The Wall in Cane Bay and go to the reggae brunch (or just grab a bite) at EAT@Cane Bay.

We stayed at Carambola 7 years ago. Try to get a second floor room. They are two floor cottages with 4 rooms on each floor. The top floor has cathedral ceilings and hubby says they are much nicer ( he has stayed in both). Our room was mere feet from the water. The ocean there was very rough and you can only swim to the far left due to rocks. Not like STJ. We loved Off the Wall for lunch. We also ate breakfast several mornings at a little place next to a dive shop right after the Gentle Winds complex. Maybe someone can tell you the name. We bought cheese and cold cuts and kept them in the mini fridge for lunch. Went to a great Italian restaurant twice Tutto Bene. Business associates that live on Island took us..one of their favorites. We had fun mainly becuz it was a free trip and hubby knew his way around the island. We went to the Casino and had dinner at the buccaneer but we preferred the less formal places to eat.
