Childcare on STJ

Post by Tracy in WI »

Juice and I will be taking the kids down for a week in June and are wondering about childcare. Last year we took our niece and she watched them a few nights so we could get out and have a nice dinner/drinks.

Has anyone used a service on the island? Is there even a "Service"!? What about the Westin - I would imagine you need to be a guest there to take advantage of their child care.

Thanks for any ideas! We'll need a night out!!

I know nothing about it but Susy Christy offers babysitting services on her site.

Waterguy, I expected you to offer to go down with them and be the sitter! :)

I was going to suggest locking them in a room with a bowl of water but then I realized that you meant actual children and not the 4 legged kind.

Just kidding...I have heard that Christy's offers babysitting.

Too bad we won't be there the same time in June. You could hire my 16 and 12 year old.

Great question Tracy! I was thinking of asking the same question, except for services on STT instead. We'd like at least one night out during the week of 6/27 - 7/4. Or night in

Hmm. I sense an opportunity for someone to launch a career doing this in conjunction with the Westin, Marriott, Wyndham, Ritz, etc.

I have read (not personally experienced) good things about Christy's.

I also remember hearing about a woman who owns a day care that provided in-villa sitting services. I can't remember the name but maybe on of the residents will chime in.

Caneel does offer services but I assume one would need to be a guest.

Maybe your rental agent could point you to someone. Our son is a little to young for that now but I would be interested in learning more about it for future trips.

We used Christy's Classics to arrange childcare for several nights out on our last trip. Two of the couples had a kid each (3 and 1) and we probably did 4 nights out over 10 night period. We had the same sitter thoughout, Tonya and the kids really seemed to like her. She was very pleasant, totally reliable and it was very nice to have the same person throughout the trip.

We usually use the closet and duct tape at home... never considered adding water.

But since it's a vacation, we'd thought we'd let them have a little freedom...

I'll have to look into hiring Christy's or Waterguy for a few nights - I promise, no running!

I thought that the WI forum party in July was going to be a marathon. And to think I have been training for that...
I think I will have to do the drinking training for that one. :?
