Car Rental - Passenger Ferry

Post by dutchguy233 »

I was going to rent a car on St. Thomas and then take the car ferry but the rental companies said that I am on my own on St.Johns and they will not come over and provide any assistance if I have an issue. So, the first question is what is the best way to get from the airport to Red Hook? I remember reading something about using Rachel? Secondly, who would you rent a car from on St. Johns. Thanks for your assistance.

1. No S on St. John
2. I only rent on STJ for that reason. I use STJ Car Rental
3. I use Rachel and I love her! 340-771-2986

All of that being said, except for the S  , you can certainly rent on STT and have no problems at all on STJ. People do it every day.
It is all about your comfort level

A couple of years back, six of us flew into STT and were met at the airport by the Constantins of Amalie Car Rental. Did the paperwork right at the airport, drove off to buy supplies and then onto the ferry at Red Hook to start an amazing week. Based on our great experience with them, I highly recommend checking them out: www.amaliecar.com (Magdalena Constantin was incredibly friendly and took all of the worry out of the transaction. Exactly what you want with a St. John vacation!)

Ditto the Amalie experience. Just couldn't be any easier or more pleasant. They were terrific - A+ in every way.

Amalie actually meets you right at the airport? In the past (and it's been a few years) we always rented in STT and picked food up on the way. The wait in STT for the car sometimes was a bit, but it was less expensive to grab food, etc., before heading to STJ.

I agree with Amalie! Its so quick and easy! Just walk out of the airport, sign a paper, and off ya go! Stop by Cost U Less, pick up some food, drinks, etc....and then off to the ferry! Amalie is the way to go, especially if you want to buy some items in STT. Good luck!

We met Rachel yesterday and LOVED her. She was waiting for us at the airport when we got there and our plane was 45 minutes early!

She did everything she could to get us on the 3:00 ferry... but we just missed it.

She was waiting with a sign and a hug! What a great welcome! Thanks for all of you who recommended her. I told her that she's something of a celebrity on here!
