is there a way?

We're staying on Gift Hill.

I'm wondering if there is a way to look online each day to know what the various beach conditions are on each beach or how rough the water is on each beach. It would help with our planning each day.... or is the best method to walk outside and feel the direction of the breeze?

I know it's a long shot but I thought I read a review one day where a person wrote about planning their days by having information related to that.

Not sure if this is quite the same, but I follow Captain John Brandi (Palm Tree Charters) on facebook and he almost always has a little forecast on his daily updates!

When on island, I find it helpful, when I'm home in Wisconsin, its actually a bit depressing!

I did the same as Tracy in November. Looked for Captain John's daily post. It was quite helpful, especially since the north swells were up that week.

Follow the link above to the NOAA site for Cruz Bay. Scroll down to the heading "Additional Forecasts and Information" and click on "Marine Information." Under this heading are several forecasting tools that should help you decide whether to go to a north or south shore beach. Keep in mind that when using these tools especially wave height at the weather buoys that anything under 5 feet may mean minimal wave action at the beaches.

Weatherunderground.com has always given me a good forcast and accurate weather conditions at home or when I travel. Here is the wunderground site for StJ. If you scroll down you will find current conditions and hourly forecasts for wind and weather.

We usually just sit on the paito with coffee and breakfast and see if it is windy and from which direction. Your cup of coffee is a good forecaster as well. If the bubbles are pushed to the outer edges of your cup there is high pressure in place and expect clear weather. If the bubbles form in the middle and slowly push to the outside the pressure may be changing and expect clearing skys. If the bubbles are in the center a low pressure system is in place. Clouds, wind and rain are possible. If you are sitting on the patio and your head is wet, you can expect rain.
