We will be visiting with an 20 month old and may be looking for shade, especially in the afternoon- I am thinking that Vie's beach might be shady in the afternoon because of its location- we have been to Vie's but never her beach- does anyone know? Our house is at Hart Bay and my memory is that will be sunny in the afternoon as will the famous North Shore beaches. Thanks.
I don't know about the sun orientation at Vie's, but I remember that there seemed to be fewer trees or nooks at Vie's than other beaches, and consequently those few good spots were crowded. I wasn't a big fan of Vie's though.

Need2GetAway is correct when he/she says there are fewer trees or nooks but we love Vie's and always go every early to get the best spot deep in big in a nook of sea grapes. It is a bit of a drive from Hart Bay. When we took our little granddaughter on her trip she was 2 1/2. Maho was the beach that when to the most on that trip because the water is so warm and shallow there
Beware the issue of no-see-ums and mosquitos when you take a toddler up under the sea grape trees on her beach. My wife was eaten up that way. Most folks under-spray the little ones and they can suffer if the critters find them unprotected.
We never had bites at Vie's, and Blaine is a bug MAGNET! I think it depends on if there was a lot of rain in the recent past, and time of day you're there. We get there before 10am to claim one of only 2 good shady areas, and leave by 4.
