Help plan our itinerary!

Post by SusieQT »

I would like to have a very loose plan for our week!

Our dates are 12/29-1/5. 2 adults, 2 kids ages 8 & 10, serious nature lovers/beach lovers

Staying in Coral Bay
Planning a day with Cleve fishing & snorkeling
Hoping for dinner at La Tapa for New Year's Eve

Beach suggestions? Would like to get a broad view of the variety of wild/marine life

Kids are good swimmers, novice snorkelers

Other ideas?

Hubby & I have been before, 15 years ago for our honeymoon. Have visited on day trips a few times when a cruise stopped in STT.

Thanks!

You can get the younger ones acclimated and comfortable with snorkeling at Salt Pond or Vie's Beach in usually calm waters - close by Coral Bay. Maho and Francis Bays are usually calm as well and are next to each other. A great short hike is NPS center to Solamon and Honeymoon beaches. The guided hike to Reef Bay offered by the NPS is excellent but you must sign up ahead of time, doing it on your own is OK too. The hike from Salt Pond to Rams Head is great, easy and could include a snorkel at Cobblestone [Beach] if they are comfortable by then and conditions permit. Driving down to the Lameshur's is also close by and offers good snorkeling.

make any reservations anywhere early - that is a Very busy week.

I second the recommendation to visit Salomon or Honeymoon. The snorkeling is good and easily accessible. Plus they are two of the loveliest beaches on the island (IMHO). And that's saying something!
