Trip Report - 10/9 – we have arrived!

Post by Thimbu »

The red-eye from Los Angeles to JFK was brutal. They did not serve us anything on the plane. No coffee, no water, nada. We arrived in St. Thomas at 2:00 pm with no further issues. Picked up a Jeep Unlimited from Dependable and it was off to Cost-U-Less. Jet lagged and craving coffee, my brain was seriously not working. We bought WAY too much stuff! Prices were higher than we remember and the selection, particularly for fruits and veggies, was very limited. Was it because the 10th was Columbus Day and folks were stocking up….? Drove to Red Hook and caught the 4 pm car ferry. Nancy met us at the ferry it was off to Bordeaux Breeze Villa. Wow, what a ride. Even after 6 trips to St. John, it is always a shock to drive on those roads the first day! The ride from Chateau Bordeaux to the villa is…..exciting! Thank goodness the other 2 villas were empty as I would NOT want to encounter another car.

Bordeaux Breeze is AWESOME. Killer views, very private solar heated infinity edge pool and a hot tub with color changing mood lighting. What more can you ask for? The villa is fairly new and has only been available since 2007. Pictures on the website are VERY accurate. It has 2 master bedroom suites (and the laundry facilities) downstairs and a decent kitchen, living room, additional bathroom etc upstairs. Chairs were a bit faded (new covers on order) but very comfy. The stereo has outdoor speakers and is IPod ready. The TV was ridiculous – HUGE flat screen with full cable. Too much for us – all we want the TV for is the local weather report in the morning! Seriously, for 2-4 people, this villa is hard to beat. Opened a bottle of wine, sunk into the hot tub and enjoyed the view with the almost-full moon overhead. Ahhhh…..we have arrived!

We stayed at Bordeaux Breeze in 2010. It happened to be an overcast/rainy week and the pool was too chilly during most of our stay. We were so grateful the villa had a hot tub with a very nice view. I think I remember that about Bordeaux Breeze the most - the misty days in the hot tub with misty valley views. Hope you had more sun than we did there, though!
