Are the 4WD jeeps automatic or manual transmission? We need to get our rental booked this week.

They are automatic transmission.

We have one reserved for Feb. (I own a Wrangler...)

Here's a question - somewhere I thought I read that the rental companies don't allow you to take the top down on the Jeeps. True & if so, why?

Yes because of the frequint showers they would end up with wet seats for the next renter. That said I think some of the company's on STT will let you take them down

I have only rented from a couple of rental agencies and neither allowed the top removed. I assume it is so that;
a) none of the rag-top pieces are lost or damaged
b) surprise showers are a part of daily life on the island and wet seats and carpet do not dry easily. Mildew and rust would eat up the inside of a new vehicle in no time.
