Sending boxes by post office

Is the best way to send stuff USPO Priority Mail Flat Rate? How long in advance do you send them? Should they be addressed any special way? Can you send them so you can track them to see if they get there? Any secrets?? Thanks

Yes!

I try and allow two weeks.

I do it the way they suggest on the Connections web site - large, capitalized block letters, no punctuation marks.

Yes, with priority mail you can get delivery confirmation and on line tracking.

Augie's got it right. I regularly send "care" packages to my daughter via Connections. Always use the flat rate boxes which are great and can hold much more than you'd think.

I've never had a package arrive in less than one week so two weeks is probably your best bet. Definitely follow the addressing "suggestions."

Get insurance on it. That's the secret. Sent two packages to a friend -- both flat rate priority. I sent a book on August 24 without insurance. It still hasn't arrived. Sent a box on August 26 with insurance and she's had it for a week. Sent two other boxes before that with insurance and she got them in about a week.

I sent mine USPS Flat Rate Priority with delivery confirmation on April 1st and it arrived on June 12th.

Here's the problem with insurance -- if you have to make a claim, most of the stuff we mail (perishables, liquids, etc) are illegal to mail anyway so they aren't going to reimburse you for it.

Next time we suck it up and check a bag or just buy everything there.

Here's a tip if you are sending food down.I sent a package to Cinnamon Bay Campground for my trip back in May.It contained a package of trail mix that opened up before ariving there.By the time I picked the box up,little ants found the M&M's.I got it under control {and yes I did eat the trail mix,i'm a camper}So be careful with sugar based items.

I have been mailing packages to and from STJ for over 15 years.
USPS Flat Rate boxes work the best. Adress in Clear Printed or Typed Letters, ALWAYS use delivery confirmation, send 2 weeks ahead.

When packing the box make sure it is packed tightly with no open space. Each item goes in it's own ziplock bag to prevent spillage if something breaks, and the bags come in handy while on island, too!
