Stuck in Newark

Post by Anthony »

So like an idiot I didn't call earlier to check on our flight. Seems like there is a strike in Italy, and there is no air traffic until after 4 PM local time tomorrow. Luckily, we were moved to a 10:15 PM from Newark to Frankfurt instead of the 8:15 to Munich, and we'll be able to get home on flights after 4 PM local time from Germany to Italy... but we'll have to be on different planes for that leg. Not the worst story but just a really long day!

Ahhh -travel- especially between the US and Europe- fun! I remember we were moving back to the US from England in '99 and found out when we arrived at the airport that American Airlines pilots had gone on a strike - we had already vacated our house! Looooong day (s) of several random flights all over Europe and the US to finally get us home- I think a day later... Good luck!

Well that was an over 24 hour trip! Strike in Italy, had to change flights, 5 hour layover in Frankfurt, bag didn't arrive in Florence, and then murderous traffic on the drive home... whew.

Welcome home! I bet you are hoping not to have to fly again any time soon.

Welcome home Anthony! I hate travel days! When did they start to consistently suck? I can't remember a "good" travel day for a long time!
