Serendip without a car?

Post by PatrickMcc »

We are looking for a room on Fri. 17th (President's week) and Sat and Sun the 25th and 26th of Feb. St John Inn or Cruz Bay BOutique hotel seemed good choices but both are full at least one of those nights. We have a house reserved for President's week and get our car on Sat the 18th through the 25th. Will taxis go to Serendip? I have been past the road up there many times and it doesn't look like it is walkable to Cruz Bay. Thanks.

Patrick - Taxis are plentiful around there because a lot of taxi drivers live up that hill, or so says the Serendip manager. I have some friends that stayed there for a last-minute honeymoon last year, and that found a car rental necessary after 2 days or so. (after initially stressing about how they didn't want to spend the extra cash, etc, etc) They missed the freedom. I know car rentals seem expensive, but it's money well spent. It was a giant hassle to find a rental in high season at the last second. I'd frankly book one before you go and just save elsewhere.
