Anyone been to Tahiti?

Family thinking we should all head to Tahiti next vacation. I don't know where to begin planning and/or making reservations. Does anyone have any suggestions? FYI This will NOT replace my annual trip to St. John!

We have been to Papeete and Bora Bora. Obviously a very lovely place. Stayed at the Intercontinental Thalasso spa on Bora Bora. PM me if you need some help.

It's been awhile but we have been twice- in 1996 for our honeymoon (Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora) and in 2001 (Bora Bora). Amazing, beautiful. Have not gone with kids but would like to when they are older. Stay in an overwater bungalow for at least a few days if you can. We also stayed in a beachfront which was perfect. Bloody Mary's on Bora Bora is a great place to eat. We didn't do that much but laze around in the water. We did rent a scooter and drove around Bora Bora- very fun! And went snorkeling to feed the stingrays once- when too many reef sharks showed up we had to leave

When we go back I want to do more. Highly recommend (but of course NOT as an STJ replacement )

Agree here, it is definitely not a replacement. In many ways, it is more beautiful than STJ. But, I find it to be a catered and in some ways manufactured resort-type experience.

Fiji is next on my hit list for this type of vacation.
