New "firsts" from our second trip to St John
My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon on St John. We were down from July 4-11th staying at Seawatch villa on Gifft Hill. This was our second trip to St John, having been down around the same time last year.
I haven't had time to write up a full trip report, but wanted to touch on a few "firsts" for us that we really enjoyed.
- Vie's beach and snack shack - very nice beach and great lunch food. My wife is a garlic addict and she loved the chicken. The conch fritters were excellent as well.
- Oppenheimer/Gibney beach - very nice beach with a great private feel.
- Candi's BBQ - I thought it was much better than Uncle Joe's.
- The small Sunday "market" across the street from Hercules Pate's. There was a woman there selling local food and I had the most delicious roti and rice with beans from her.
- P&P By The Sea - this wasn't a first, but they deserve top billing. Wonderful local food, the most tender conch I have ever put in my mouth, along with delicious side dishes.
Our only disappointment was going to Caneel one morning. The weather was iffy, so we decided to stay closer to town. Perhaps we expected too much, but it felt like being herded into the typical resort setting. We tried to walk down to the beach toward the left and find some shade, only to be approached by two staff members in a boat, telling us to move back to the main beach. At that point we packed and left, having only been there for less than 30 minutes.

P&P is located around the at the end of the road that runs past Gallows Point. You need to call ahead for reservations and to place your order, since Patricia only cooks enough for the folks who have made reservations. Their number is 340-693-8587
The small Sunday market was located in the covered parking area under the Lumberyard building closest to the water. It's on the side street that runs from the roundabout down toward the post office. It seemed to be a very small, local thing, with just one lady selling food, and a few other vendors selling odds and ends.

Coden!!! your time is short!!!
I know you are beyond excited. Ok confess... how many times a day do you look at the forum?!
I would look for excuses to open my computer at least 6 to 10 times a day before our trip!

I'm on and off here in the mornings from say 7ish to 9ish, when GMA is over. And then in the evenings I am here off and on until I go to bed. So I could match your 6 to 10 times a day with ease.
