Capn Dan and Ruby's StJ/Lovango - day 8 (Lovango 2)

Well, I do need to pay attention to when I go to bed. I woke up this morning at 4 am, wide awake so I used the down time to catch up writing trip reports, emailing, and face book. Normally I would not take time to do that during the day, but today we had lots of time! I did step out as the sun was coming up to get some early morning photos:














We got an early delivery of eggs from Marcie (she took over Santa’s Chickens) so we fixed French toast for breakfast.






Today we were still in awe over the whole concept of our good fortune, and were really glad not to be stuck inside the Beach Cottage! It rained or drizzled almost all day! We did have a nice place to watch the rain though.









Just a note, when it rains alot on Lovango every thing is damp! And Because the beams were soaked in the Great Salt Lake, and because salt has an affinity for water, the beams even drip a salt water solution. Crazy hugh. It was a concideration, but not a huge problem.








We ate breakfast, sat and read, ate lunch sat and read, and finally after lunch we had enough of clear time (by that I mean a light mist) to walk the beach and look for beach glass. I found several pieces. The weather was too stormy for snorkeling, but the walk was nice. And we did try the hammock out at the Beach cottage, until the mosquitoes started eating on Capn Dan.

All of this was very relaxing, and after all, most of the time we try to cram so much into our vacations that we forget what a vacation is for. After our walk we rested some more, had a cup of coffee and then a cold shower. Remember that we are off the grid here… no sun…no hot water.









So it’s “put your right hip in take your right hip out but your right hip in and shake it all about……” you know the song… “and that’s what it’s all about”. Salt water and grime washed off we began working on dinner. We fixed hamburger patties with onions, pepper and grill rub mixed in, some of that wonderful mashed sweet potatoes (it looks awful and brownish grey, but is very tasty!), the last of our bag of Josephine’s Greens mixed with other vegetation, bread dipped in olive oil mixed with one of Ruth’s spice mixes and garlic, and asparagus. That grill rub just makes meat better!!!




We cleaned up, fixed a drink, talked and relaxed (some more). We went to bed early, by our normal standards, but not so early that I will wake up at 4 am! Tomorrow we will do provisioning in STJ.

So happy you enjoyed Lovango! We would love to go back and experience the "Big House" but unfortunately it's out of our $$$$ range!
I guess we'll just gaze over there and reminisce while limin' on Solomon Beach~

Oh man, that was so relaxing, I fell asleep 3 times while reading that report. Whew! You could wear yourself out relaxing that much!

That's waht vacations are all about. A lot of us forget that now and again. Thanks for the report and the pix! Great reading!
