Can any of you cooks help my friend Elizabeth Sue Kelly who recently moved from California to Virginia?

"I think I want to make some bread and butter pickles with Mom. Problem is - all of my treasured boxes of recipes did not make it here. I think we lost a full box of kitchen items as several things are missing. Anyone have a good B&B pickle recipe to share?"

CA Girl - sorry, although I love bread & butter pickles, I've never tried to make them.

I was recently in Gulf Shores, AL and picked up Lucy Buffett's cookbook. This pickle recipe is in it and I think it looks good and easy. I haven't tried it yet but I plan to. http://www.mobilebaymag.com/Mobile-Bay/ ... -the-Farm/ Let me know if you try it.

I guess I shuld bump up the cocktail thread for this, but here is a picture of a very refreshing mango-cucumber wine cooler. The recipe is in this month's Bon Appetit:

That drink looks pretty. We've been infusing vodka and tequila lately. Over the weekend it was Lemon, Rosemary Vodka. Very good. I had it with tonic and a splash of cranberry.

Last night I tried to replicate a fish quesadilla I had last year at Banana Deck. It came out well though I think I forgot some of the ingredients I ate in theirs. I guess I will have to go back and order another one to see! Mine had grilled swordfish and squash, roasted poblano peppers, and just enough cheese to hold it together. Served with mango-pineapple salsa, spicy crema, and corn relish (the relish is not homemade, it is Stonewall Kitchen).

Here you go, Maryanne:

I chopped up the tomatoes and tossed them with the seasoning in the morning, so they macerated all day.
