Cleared to come to St John but with restrictions!
The girl was so close....must admit I was so looking forward to running and hiking as many trails as I could during our 10 day trip to St John. Actually had planned to run the "8 Tuff Miles" course to get a feel for it prior to my anticipated run of it in 2012! Anyways, very bad stress fracture of a bone in my left knee, so no running for this girl, actually no weight at all on that knee. Crutches and a cane will be my friends as I make my way around the island. Good news is I have been cleared for snorkeling, swimming, laying on the beach, sunsets, and woo hoo, COCKTAILS! We are hopeful that we can change our three day car rental to a full week since I will not be able to do the anticipated walking! With that being said, what beaches have the least amount of hike to get to? I must admit, I am ready to crawl on two hands and one knee if necessary! Thanks in advance.....

You will be in good company on the boat trip to BVI and the Beach Bar...Hubby just ditched his crutches and is limping around on the bad leg. I think a few Painkillers will ease the discomfort. Salt Pond, Honeymoon, Cinnamon have a fair amount of walking.
Stick with Francis, Maho, Trunk, Hawksnest...
I need to get off the forum and start packing!!

The beach at Maho comes right up to the road. Have your hubby drop you off and then park the car along the road. 4 or 5 steps and you're on the sand! And there's some nice snorkeling on both sides of the bay and turtles out in the middle. Also, as Pat said, give Trunk Bay a try. There's a bit of a walk from the parking lot, but it's paved all the way to the sand, so it shouldn't be hard to hobble along!
Oh no say it isn't so! I am so sorry to hear that. don't worry thought STJ can absolutely be enjoyed by sitting your butt in the sand or on a bar stool. I hope you are not in pain although a painkiller may help
. Well now I know how to find ya. Hope to meet ya soon and I promise to run to the bar for ya to get ya a drink. Safe travels!
Pat has it right. I would add Little Lamshur to the list. You can normally park fairly close to the sand there too. Vie's Beach has a bit of a walk but I think it may be shorter than the Trunk Bay walk. Although it's not paved.
Let me know how this works for you. Diana will be wanting to follow in your "cane prints."

Glad you are cleared for the trip to Paradise. I agree, Little Lameshur, Maho, Francis, Trunk can all be got to w/o too much trouble. Enjoy!!
One of the best vacations we ever had was the year my DH broke 3 ribs the week before we left. He was allowed to still go as long as he promised not to pick anything up and to just sit, read and relax in a chair. We did nothing that trip but that and talk about relaxing!
Enjoy!!
