another thing I meant to tell you all about...when we took the taxi from STT to Red Hook, of course the rate chart is right there...$11 pp ( with more than 2 passengers) and $2 per bag. So when we got out of the taxi ( I have the money all set aside for fare) my husband says to the driver " We had 5 people, and 7 bags, so that is $55 plus $14 equals $69, plus a tip. no discussion...
On our way home, from Red Hook to STT airport, we get out of the taxi and the driver announces that it will be $15 per person. At that rate he is adding on 2 bags per person. Well, some people didn't have 2 bags a piece. I was annoyed at this, and I said " Well, the sign says blah,blah,blah" and he says " well, you can do it that way if you want". I guess if you don't know what the rate is, then you just pay what the driver says! If that is what the drivers want to charge, then post it that way. Just a heads up to have your money ready and know how much it is going be.

Just finished reading your post and only gives me more of secure feeling with renting a jeep at the airport and driving to the ferry.
