Favorite BVI resorts?
Favorite BVI resorts?
We are staying at a villa on STJ for a week at the end of September. We would like to extend our trip a few days and thought about spending it in the BVI. Looking for recommendations for a place to stay for a few nights. I realize that most villas will not rent for less than a week - what are your favorite affordable resorts in the BVI??

I've never stayed here, but I would like to one of these days. White Bay Villas on JVD. They seem fairly reasonable. http://www.jostvandyke.com/

If I am taking you literally, I am not sure that there is such a thing as an “affordable resort” in the BVIs, if by affordable you mean less than ~$500/night, and if by resort you mean it would have plenty of amenities (pool, spa, bar, restaurant, etc.)
Then again, my idea of “affordable” and of “resort” could be a lot different than yours.
That said, Biras Creek and Little Dix Bay (both on Virgin Gorda) are mighty nice, at least to a poor day visitor like myself and according to the reviews on tripadvisor. And, indeed, they may not be open that time of year.

The Sandcastle on Jost is my hands-down favorite. Prices are very reasonable (in the $200-something a night range). They only have 6 units and it's right on the beach. No pool. Soggy Dollar Bar is part of it. The food is fantastic and you get the beach all to yourself in the morning and evening. During the day it's...well, the Soggy Dollar Bar. In the evenings, you hang out at the bar with the other guests. They have games and when the workers leave, they will leave the bar open for you and you are on the honor system. We had the best time there and are planning a return trip in November. The rooms aren't anything fancy, but they are clean and comfortable. You just can't beat waking up in the morning and stumbling onto White Bay.
I'd like to try Cooper Island sometime, too. I've only eaten lunch there, but it looks like a cool place to stay.

My in-laws stay at Lambert Bay when they go to Tortola. Prices seem reasonable... http://www.lambertresort.com/
