trip report Mar. 28 - Apr. 3, part 1!!

It's hard to believe that we have already been back a few weeks, and harder still to believe that it is STILL SNOWING here! Crazy, long winter. Suffice to say, St. John was a welcome and wonderful reprieve from the cold. Ironically our two trips over Thanksgiving and Christmas were to the Keys, where it was consistently in the 50's and windy. The warm air of the VI's was such a welcome feeling.

We were among those stranded by the fiasco with American Airlines and the Miami airport fire. After being delayed a day and getting no straight answers from American, we finally gave up and booked three seats on Spirit Air (aka 'Greyhound') out of Detroit thru Ft. Lauderdale. Miraculously, there were no delays and after enduring some nasty thunderstorms upon descent in Ft. Lauderdale--including our plane being struck by lightning, which I do NOT recommend--we landed safely in STT and headed to Avis. Unbelievably they actually had a jeep for us and - get this--it was new! After some real doozies over the years, this was a real treat! The doors worked, the windows worked and there were no holes in the floor! We headed to Red Hook and literally backed into the last space on the barge, and were off within 5 minutes...whew! Let the vacation begin!

We were met at the barge dock by Megan of Cimmaron Properties, who escorted us to our villa in Chocolate Hole, called 'Poi Pu'. I did a review of the villa on the St. John villa review page. Megan was very nice and got us settled, and we headed off the the Beach Bar for some dinner.



Came back to the villa, sat on the deck, got unpacked, played some tunes and hit the hay, looking forward to some St. John fun tomorrow!

Great to see your TR, but not as good as it was to see you all on island!

Your ticker reinforces what you said - it's hard to believe that it's been that long already.
