CA ferry this Saturday
Hi! I've been a lurker for a while but never posted. We are arriving at 12:26pm on Saturday. If we go carryon, do we have any hope of making the 1pm ferry? We're not in a huge rush but I like the longer ferry ride as opposed to the longer taxi ride. Is there anywhere at Red Hook to sit down and have a drink while we wait for the 2pm? It's been 2 years since we have been ( and we did the private taxi/water taxi combo with our kids ) so I can't remember.

I don't know if you will make the ferry at CA or not, but if you go to Red Hook, the terminal has been completely rebuilt and enclosed, and there are now restrooms, limited food, a couple of small shops, and a bar with tables where you can sit and wait for the next ferry.

Welcome, welcome! I doubt you will make it but ask the taxi driver or dispatcher BEFORE getting in a taxi. The Red Hook terminal does have a nice little bar with a couple of tables for cocktails while you wait for the next ferry, it will be to your right as you enter the ferry terminal. I also prefer the longer ferry ride to the taxi ride but now that you can relax and have a cocktail, why hurry, it's the start of your vacation. We had our first cocktail there to officially start our vacation 2 weeks ago, it was refreshing after a long day of travel. Have a great trip!
