I haven't tried any thing other then my iPad, so all I can say is that I think the iPad is just flat out the best toy since Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots! I use it for so many things that it's hard to summarize it all.So many apps, so little time!

JT, I agree about the IPAD..would love to afford one, but would be afraid to take it to the beach/pool...not so much with the Nook.

I just bought a Kindle with Wi-Fi + 3G. Love it, love it, love it!!

I really like the Internet capability - all free, no added charges. I have this site, and some others, bookmarked. You can do google and yahoo searches.

And...the best is that you'll never be without a book again.

Coden, Have you taken your Kindle WiFi 3G to STJ? If so, what did you think? How is the internet search on it? I have read reviews that it is not that great so just curious...

Finsup - I just bought it Thursday. And, although I did buy it mainly for the books & games...I am amazed at the internet power it has.

I've only used it here in my house so far and I have this site bookmarked and can read the threads. And I can check my webmail - which I think is a good feature while out and about town or elsewhere, especially if you are waiting on a confirmation, or something that needs replying to.

I haven't actually tried to respond to an e-mail...or post on a thread. If I get a chance tomorrow I might do a couple of tests...but, I do not know if the capability is there to do that.

I love using it to read and have found tons of free books in the Amazon Store. Love it!!

My friend had hers in Tunica this Tue - Thurs...I had my laptop. It cost me 11.99 p/d for internet access, she got on-line with her Kindle and checked basketball game scores, and other stuff for her hubby, and it cost her zero $.

Since the 3G is thru AT&T...I don't see why it wouldn't work on STJ. Just a guess though. :)

You're welcome. I feel like I have an adult pacifier as I carry it from room to room with me in the house. I'll never be w/o a book or game again. Woo-hoo!!

Ok - this is me from my laptop. As you can see...I did log in, using my Kindle, and posted twice. So it can be done. It is very labor intensive though, but, it is good to know that it can be done. Yippee!! :D

Coden, Thanks for the info...good to know. I kind of got that it was not ideal using the internet on it from the reviews I read but it is nice to know it can be done. What to do??? I have 3 young boys and have read that the Nook Color would be ideal for their ages and lord knows, they are way more tech savvy than my husband and I are...decisions, decisions. I have also been toying with the idea of an Ipad for my hubby. Just not sure if I want to make that kind of purchase right now. He would love it I know and it would serve lots of purpose. Than again for your updates, they do help. :D

Finsup - what I like about the IPad, vs the Samsumg Galaxy and the other one (can't remember its name) is that:

Yes, while upfront the IPad is more expensive...you can turn the 3G portion off and on at will. The wi-fi will always be there, but the 3G, if you know you are going to be at home for the next 3 months say, and don't need 3G, but then are going on vacation and may need the 3G...you purchase the amount you want, or the time frame...say a month. And then, you turn it back off.

Where as the other two models...one being thru Sprint and the other thru Verizon...Their units are 1/2 the price of the IPad...BUT, you have a Monthly contract of $25 - $35 dollars, so, over a years time, you've paid the same amount that you would've paid for the IPad...and, you'll still be paying that fee the Next year...so, that makes the IPad cheaper over the longhaul, and, for me personally, I would go with the IPad.

The above is what I gathered after a lengthy visit to Best Buy, comparing the IPad, et al...my thinking could be off, but I think I got most of it correct.

p.s. If the IPad had been the size of the Kindle or Nook, I would have bought the IPad... :)
