Waterguy - funny! (Although I have to wonder what lured you to the 'girlie' topic!)
Thanks for the info Brenda. I'll try it.
Sea-nile: excerise helps me SO much, but I only go at 5:30 a.m. which means I have to get up by 5:10 or 5:15. (I go early due to work, etc., plus I like the no frills early a.m. crowd.) So if I don't sleep, I don't get up to work out, then I feel even worse. Yuk.
I've also read that you should get up at the same time every day even if you don't have to. But 5:15 is just too cruel on a weekend.
OK back to Waterguy: In the Nanny Diaries book, the main character says that "sleep is the new sex" for moms: you don't get enough of it, you fantasize about getting more, and you feel guilty when you take time out for it.

LOL, Waterguy. I'm lucky I've made it though menopause without any sleep issues. My husband however has always had sleep problems. My solution - if he's up in the middle of the night he should wake me and I'll tire him out and then we'll both go back to sleep.

Hello...okay, it's 2:30 a.m. and I'm not just stumbling home from a great party, okay? I'm wide awake.
During the work week I take an aide to help me sleep.
On the weekend when the situation occurs, I actually enjoy the quietness of being up and do some meditation and then fall back asleep.
Does anyone experience anxiety attacks? I have never had them before menapause, and now do occassionaly. They freak me out and make my blood pressure go zoom. I can raise it to 190/107 just by thinking about stressful situations and then lower it to 97/60 by meditating. Should I be in a "freak show" or has anyone else been able to make this happen? (I know it's not a good thing and my Dr. is working on it).

Anxiety attacks, no but I have noticed blood pressure spikes. Here is what I have chosen since my situation is not clear cut.
First thought it was perimenopause induced. After pursuing some swelling in my neck, we have determined that I have papillary carcinoma (a very slow growing tumor on the thyroid) and perhaps parathyroid disease. So we are ceasing the HRT and will remove the thyroid and any parathyroid if it looks affected.
Then we start with sinthroid which mimics the hormone normally produced by the thyroid, apperently it can take some time to get this "right", if a parathyroid is removed, same thing. How I will feel at the end will be interesting.
Anyone else been through this? What is your outcome?
