After 3 gorgeous beach days on Zanzibar working on their tan! The black figures you see in the water are Muslim women in their dress fishing.

That's a gorgeous beach! Imagine wearing a "burka" and getting in the water like that. Ugh!

I'm thinking your daughter is very brave to visit that part of the World right now!

Normally I don't worry about her at age 27 travelling "abroad", however this trip, I've lost sleep over.

She is in Johannasburg now sleeping. Their flight from Zanzibar went through Tanzania and she indicated a few very scarey experiences there. Again I didn't sleep well last night.

In their morning they are driving 6 hours to their safari destination resort with their rental car....on the left hand side of the road! (Another sleepless night tonight for me!)

In Cape Town, they are planning a shark dive (in caged tanks)...another sleepless night for me...

What can I do, the kid is a successful business woman that lives on the edge. She's not married and has no kids. Can I blame her? Nah!

Safe and sound in Kruger National Park! Our place is amazing!! We are in the center of one of the reserves and each of our rooms has a beautiful outdoor shower and a nice fire pit common area. There is also a pool here, which is a great thing because it is super hot! There are little monkeys everywhere on the property, and I guess they love to try to steal your food, but other than that they are harmless. We are going on our first safari in a few hours! They are bringing a bottle of sparkling wine for a break in the safari- during sunset :) We are the only ones here tonight, so we get a private safari!

I call these things "wonderfully horrifying," cause they're wonderful for the kid and horrifying for me!

African Safari after Zanzibar

Post by Terry »

Here is the kid's version of an African safari! Great place that they were at! They are now in Cape Town and enjoying so much there!

"I just had the most amazing day of my life!! I wish I could call, but it so expensive and service is very weak :(

I told you that we started the morning by seeing giraffes and rhinos, then we tracked down a herd of lions. They let us get out of the car and get closer to the cats, but once they started to growl, it was a little scary. Our guide, Sam, is very good and knows all the warning signs and when not to push them so we headed back to the jeep. So for the afternoon safari, we tracked down elephants and started to four wheel a little with the hummer to find them. We end up running right into a herd of female elephants and babies, who are very protective and aggressive. They started to get really angry and threatened, but we couldn't back up or they would charge and we couldn't go forward because we were against trees. Two of the larger females flapped their ears and stomped at us and they half charged at us a few times too which made us almost crap our pants. We all had to stay very still and calm for them to settle down and walk away- we have video of it, its so crazy. We sat there for over 30 min with those huge animals less then 20 feet away..my heart was in my throat, but thrilling too to see it. We finally got away from the elephants to re-track down the lions, and we found a herd of over 70 African buffalo! We were able to park in the center of the herd and watch for a while, they were amazing! It grew dark and we found the lions..there was over 30 of them walking through the open plain area taking down the impala to eat. We were able to park in the center of the field with the spot light and they walked next to the jeep..within 3 feet of me :) They don't smell the humans when we are in the jeep, they just smell the diesel fuel and they don't think it is a living thing. They also are nocturnal, and don't see the spotlight, so we sat and watched 30 lions pass our jeep. We finally headed home for dinner..full day :) Scary, but fun! We have another full safari day tomorrow! I have a lot of video and pictures to show you."
