I'm gonna be one of those....
Cruise ship passengers...
My mother passed away on December 20 and my father-in-law passed away on January 6...been a really rough 3 months. My wife and I decided to take an RCCL cruise out of Galveston for spring break. We hope this time will help us de-stress and relax a little bit. We're going to Falmouth, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Any excursion suggestions would be appreciated (especially Jamaica and GC)....

So sorry Ron. The cruise will be a nice and much needed break.
In GC I highly recommend Stingray City. Yes, it's completely touristy, but I remember, after the initial fear wore off, being so thrilled by those creatures. It was very cool and really will take you "out of your element". By the end everyone was laughing and having a ball with those stingrays! I like that they are free to come and go, even though they're really not "wild"- they are as tame as my dogs

Ron so sorry for your losses. We too have had a rough patch of losing people. We are hoping our vacation will help to sooth our hurts, I'm hoping for the same for you. I really want to get in the sea and let it wash away all the pain. I know it won't happen like that but I think it will help, a lot.
In Jamaica we did Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rio. It was beautiful, and the beginning of our obsession with waterfalls. Hope you enjoy your trip, Have fun.

Sorry for your losses -sounds as though you could really use the break.
I did stingray city in GC as well some years ago and do recall it was a good time- regarding Jamaica I did a tour at Dunns River Falls (?) again,it was several years back on a cruise but we had a blast on that one, it was part canoeing part hiking up the falls, lots of fun. Cozumel - in my opinion - all about the beach! Enjoy your trip

So sorry for your losses.
I secind MB's rec to go to Cruise Critic, it is such an amazing resource.
We did Dunn's River Falls and we hated it. while it is a cool experience, I felt herded like cattle and hustled at every step without guide trying to get us on tape so we would buy the video or the pictures or the crafts in the craft market that they make you walk through at the end.
We have found that our best excursions were ones that we booked on our own. Smaller groups, less crowded and much cheaper.

Sincere condolences on your losses. A cruise sounds like a good idea. You can do as little or as much as you personally want to.
Definitely use Cruise Critics port of call resource!
In Mexico we opted to go to Tulum to check out the ruins which we enjoyed.
Another time we did a boat trip to go snorkeling which was not particularly memorable.
We tried another snorkel excursion on GC, not terribly impressive after the fantastic snorkeling on St John, but we enjoyed the day and the boat ride.
We docked in Montego Bay in Jamaica where we loaded onto a smallish bus for an hour ride to Appleton Rum for a tour which we DID enjoy. The ride took us across mountains as well as around some beaches for quite a scenic drive.
Enjoy your planning!!!

Thanks for the words of support. We went back and forth with cruising or an all inclusive resort in the Playa Del Carmen area. Then, I realized that I would have to fly into Cancun during spring break...
American had flights to STT on sale Christmas day...of course every time I tried to reserve a seat it was "unavailable"...so cruising it is. We haven't been on one in 14 years...having found st john and the bahamas...we've been spending our vacation time at those 2 places.

Ron,
In our "pre-STJ life" my wife and I cruised quite a bit. We've done the Western Caribbean a number of times.
I have some suggestions for operators to use in both GC and Jamaica that will take you on tours that are cheaper, less crowded, and much better than what you can get through the cruise line.
I don't want to advertise on here, but if you're interested, PM me for the details.
