Yes, there are places on STT to rent scooters for a day. Would I ever recommend doing that? NO NO NO. I have seen way to many accidents involving scooters and tourists. The roads are VERY curvy and hilly. To me it is an accident waiting to happen. I really recommend that you reconsider and rent a car instead. Much safer, and if it rains you will stay dry :D

Yep they do, no don't do it life is precious. I ride and wouldn't do it. Way to many blind curves, pot holes, critters in the road, drinking tourist that might forget to stay left or take that switchback a little wide, well you get the idea. Rent a jeep about the same price and if you go the scooter route good luck and be safe.

Yeah, I gave a ride to a guy who had been bike riding last year. We went to the hospital.

Honestly, if you look at the terrain, I don't know how you can put a bike down and not end up needing some pretty serious medical attention.

She read these and is now OK with skipping the bike ride. Thanks to all replies, as I would rather be on the beach insted of the hospital

Tried to help a resident who downed his bike on the switchback between Cruz Bay and Cinnamon. We worked and worked at getting his bike back upright but couldn't get it done because of the slope and the little rain that had fallen.

Offered him a ride but he refused, drove by a couple hours later and it was gone so he got it up somehow. He was heading to Coral Bay. Couldn't imagine riding a bike on those roads in the best of conditions let alone with a little rain. He just had some minor scrapes.
