Nov 1st time villa search

Post by lizzybirdy »

Thank you all for the info I've collected already on this site.
5th trip to STJ---1st time in a villa.
Planning 2 weeks so will have to budget for that.
Inviting a 1st TIME TO STJ couple who love to snorkle.
I'm thinking easy N SHore access...
COnsidering:
Sago Palms
Hale Lani
Morgan Point

Toying with :
Oleander
Mar de Amores

I'd do Spellbound if I could, but not this trip.

I am intrigued by Anole and love the location, but not much mention.
Thanks for any help.

I am no expert on any of these villas mind you, but here are my 2 cents. Sago Palms gets great reviews and I have seen a lot of them lately. I wonder how long the sun stays on the pool deck...I like sun on "my" pool in the afternoon!! Morgan Point also gets good reviews and I believe you get a lot of bang for your buck. I too like Anole, but it has no AC if that matters to you. My group likes AC in the bedrooms, though my husband and I rarely use it when there is a nice breeze.

It's so hard....so many villas, so little time 8)

Hope this helps and have a GREAT time!
all you have to do is smile, smile, smile

We have been to Sago Palms 3 times and love it, but
I think the pool does not get much sun in Nov. Ask
Private Homes and they will tell you. Someone on the
forum has stayed there in Nov. maybe they will answer.
The view is the North shore, but you are off Centerline
rd to get to the house or the beaches.
If you ae going in Nov. I would look for a house that
gets sun all day.

All information helps. Yes, I forgot to check for the AC, it may make a difference.
Now considering Cinnamon Tarn as well.
And then I ask myself, in the middle of this refining process,
Can you really go wrong anywhere on that island??
Thanks!

I have stayed at Cinnamon Tarn twice. Would have been more but now it's always booked when I want to go! This is why John won't let me do villa reviews anymore.

It's a really nice house, and the bedrooms are equal. A couple of considerations---no AC (you don't need it), but because of that the house is fairly open--the masters are across an enclosed breezeway from each other--so there is not "sound privacy," if you know what I mean.

It's got incredible views and a terrific vibe. I really like this house.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

We've stayed at Sago Palms in June and Nov. We will be back there this Nov. We love it all the time but you can't use the pool in Nov. It is too cold.

Ok, those ARE important considerations. I like a house layout with the masters on opposite sides preferabley. But that place sounds pretty attractive.

If we have a pool, though, I'd like to be able to use it.SO, as great as Sago Palms sounds I'll probably scratch it.

So, is November good for Belvedere or Hale Lani?(Maria Bluff)
Should I be looking on the South side? Oleander,Calypso del Sol? Ot Mar de Amores?

Blue Agave looks great and good reviews , but more $ than I wanted to go for.

Have you looked at Miles Away? It is a great villa for 2 couples. We stayed there in Nov. 2009 - sun on pool in early to mid afternoon.

I will be staying at Sago at the end of this month. According to PHPV, the pool does get sun during the day in the winter. I personally expect the pool to be cool however. But there is a hot tub.

Stayed at Morgan Point in July and can't say enough positive about it. Good price, great location, all the amenities we wanted (including central AC). A really cool house.

My review is in the review section or on my horrid website

Well, I was actually going to reconsider Sago Palms and discovered it is booked for Thanksgiving week....Maybe Wolfhound????
My plan was the week before and the week of Thanksgiving. I think I'd like to stay in the same Villa..not switch..so I'm still searching.
I do like Miles Away...alot....but I am so stuck on that N. Shore view.

I'm not doing Cinnamon Tarn cause no pool..but I LOVE that location & view. Another time...
Not doing Belvedere cause recent reviews say it was for sale and not in great shape...unless I hear otherwise.

Any other's like Cinnamon or Sago?
I am really appreciating this help.

It depends on whether you are firm on needing a pool. We stayed at Sunnyledge this past summer, and the views of Francis are unbelievable and you cannot even see another villa in your view off the back. It would be hard to imagine another north villa with a better view.

I would like the pool for my hubby. He is not a fish like the rest of us and will probably "hang out " more when we snorkle.. But I will check that one out anyway.

I haven't ruled out Morgan Point....but, now I remember..it has no view from the pool.

Wow, Sunnyledge looks amazing, and I think my friends would love it. I've never spent much time at Frances Bay, but lots at Leinster. It books up quickly too.
I am seriously considering it. Kind of out there, but on the N.Shore and I love that.
Thank you!

If not Sago Palms, I'd check out Island Horizons.
Sorry to say that I've never been to a few of the other villas mentioned in this thread.
How about Sea Biscuit, or Bayhouse?
We found great views and a warm pool at Blue Tang, and Long View was incredible, as well.
Did you look into villa Kallaloo?- North Shore, maybe a little more $ -
Good luck, and always
Smiles-
