I TOTALLY agree with Xislandgirl...we booked a trip with them for July...It has EVERYTHING we need and you can't beat the price...

Check out our villa at www.seaturtlevilla.com. PHPV is also our property manager. We try to keep our villa in 'as new' condition and the price is very competitive with comporable villas on SJ. You can find reviews from guests on vrbo or home away as well as on this site.

I think one thing that really drives up the cost of a stay on St. John is the car rental rates, typically $75 per day.

You might consider staying close to Cruz Bay -- yeah, it might be a condo rather than a villa -- and doing without a car for part of your stay. Hike to Honeymoon/Salomon. Take the bus or a taxi.

Just a thought.

thanks everyone. We've been to St. John a few times over the last 12 years and it seems like the prices are really spiraling upward. Gallows and Lavender hill are over $500/night in high season, and $300-400 in low. Villas that used to hover around $2000 per week in low season seem to be uniformly moving to and beyond the $3000-3500 mark. So, to enable the habit, we'll have to work harder to find the lower cost alternatives!

PS I agree about the car rental. It can be a shock to have to budget another $800 for the week for the car.

Hate to say it, but I have no idea what you folks are talking about, as far as $800.00 per week to rent a Jeep...?
Good luck, and always

Definitely Starlit Escape, $1800/week for 2 guests in winter and only $280 for each extra guest. Zero deferred maintenance. constant upgrades.

Sea Turtle is a nice villa and is fairly affordable however, there isn't (unless this has changed in the last couple of years) enough covered space for a small dining table outside. If you enjoy eating breakfasts, lunches or dinners outside with a view, this doesn't work well at Sea Turtle. Otherwise, it's a comfortable and well maintained property.

Missing St. John. As always.
