Spirit Air January sale
Spirit Air January sale
Spirit Air can be, well, sub-coach service. But at $288 for travel starting 1/9 out of DCA its worth a bit of time in the cattle car.
So very cold.

Rick..
Can you elaborate on Spirit?
They are starting service in our area soon. I don't really need luxury...but I do need to arrive safely.
Do you feel safe flying with them?
Not sure the discounted price is worth it or not..
Thanks for any info~

I just bought 2 round trip tickets from Chicago to STT with Spirit for a total of $403. I hate flying Spirit because the service is bad, seats are small, and the terminal in FLL is tiny, with few restrooms or food options BUT when the next cheapest price will cost me $411 MORE, I'm more than happy to suck it up and fly Spirit.
DO I think the plane will crash, no. Will I be uncomfortable and irritable while traveling, yes!

Sadly, I am tickerless

Spirit flys if they choose and does not refund or put you on another airline for many, or any, reasons. If for some reason they don't fly or you miss a connection then they'll accomodate you on the next available flight, which could take days. You get exactly what you pay for, so check the Ts&Cs.

It's been said - the rule with Spirit is you get what you pay for. You'll get where you're going (eventually) but you won't like it along the way.
We're flying Spirit out of Detroit going down this year because we had $250 in vouchers from the last nightmare flight and we wanted to use them before they expired. They were running a $35 OFF special so after all was booked it only cost us $111 for both of us. We're flying back on Delta though because we had some vouchers to use on them that were to expire as well (no cost there!).
Sometimes the prices are just too damn good (relative to the other airlines) to not fly with them. Now that I know what to expect and plan accordingly, the pain-in-the-ass pill is easier to swallow.

In my experience you don't even get what you pay for with Spirit.
Up front their prices can appear to be good, but once they nickel and dime you to death with all their little fees they are comparable to other airlines.
Paying for drinks is one thing (not a big deal) but having to pay extra to sit next to my husband is ridiculous, and when we flew Spirit that was one of those charges I didn't know about until after I'd bought the tickets.

I hate to beat a dead horse and as I have said, some have had good luck with Spirit but they do nickel and dime you after the initial price, picking a seat and this is a big one because if you don't pay the extra and buy two seats, they won't even put them together! Luggage fee and my favorite , a $2 bottle of water has to be put on a credit card !Their seats are the smallest/ tightest bar none. I was in the Air Force and had to fly in a C-130 nylon jump seat and it was more comfortable. FLL which most flight to the caribbean goes through is a very small terminal with one restroom and one small restaurant, we even had trouble finding a seat because there was a number of late connections and the terminal was flooded with people. My expierence with Spirit soured me enough that I plan my trips around the airfare from another airport and airline but I have a number of options where I live.

Knock on wood, I have had no issue with SPIRIT. I have a short trip from FLL to St. Thomas. I now have to pay for carryon (that is all I bring) It is such a short flight that it does not bother me and I do not buy beverages and do not need that much leg room. I am only 5ft 3.
I priced for my trip in March and it was about 150.00 less on SPIRIT then anyother carrier. ALL Carriers (even from FLL) had me stop in San Juan.

I'll chime in that spirit canceled dates on my dads flights this feb and pissed me off a bit but I just saw they gave me an extra checked bag for my wife and I. I even called to see why we had 2 bags when I only paid for 1, since I booked back in may before the new rules went in effect they hooked me up! only problem is I don't need 4 checked bags and 2 carry on. I'm thinking I can double my food poundage and check my meat in a separate bag. Also I hoping they do non stop next year like I here from ACC
