Dinghy or not??

I always bring about 12 ft of rope with I tie a loop in one end and tie the other end to the other side of the dinghy so the loop is about 1 ft under the water place foot in loop and climb in

We actually saw a dinghy with a rope ladder attached to the side.
The dinghy was being used with a catamaran. I thought to myself, "why don't they all do that?"
