trip report #3
So here we are on Sunday, packed up gear and walked to the Lind Pt Trail. Love this hike because of what lies at the end! Solomon Beach! Only 1 other person on the beach. It was heaven! Had a nice snorkel both sides. BTW...found lots of sea glass here! Hiked back to Gallows and spent rest of day around Gallows pool and deck. Never get tired of the snorkel off Gallows Pt. I still think it is some of the best! Saw a humongous baracuda! Love the coral and rock formations. Very cavernous around the pt.
Drove brother and sis in law back to Maho. Had dinner again at High Tide. Good, reasonable, and friendly service.
Monday was our day at Waterlemon. I always look forward to this day! 2 cars in parking lot! I love it! Love the hike with looking at the beautiful water the whole way! There were lots of landslides from the previous weeks rains, so some of the trail paths were covered with rocks. Had to scramble over in a few places. Found a nice spot on the sandy beach and away we go! Made our way around the cay. Saw rays, turtles, squid, and the famous starfish! The water was not as clear as in previous years, but visibility was OK. Met 2 Immigration Officers on the trail. They were checking things out for illegals on the Johnny Horn trail. It was wonderful to have only a few people here and there at Waterlemon! I love the off season!
In the evening, we walked up to Tamarind Inn becasue we thought they were having their Greek nite dinner. But it was closed. so we walked back down to La Tapa and again...walked right in and had a great table! this was one restaurant that had alot of people! Nice jazz combo playing. this was our first time here in all these years! guess there are some perks to being empty nesters!

I believe that you are allowed to snorkel off Gallows, by walking thru their property and using their ladder. One year we stayed at Lavender Hill across the street, and did just that. No one stopped us or said anything. As long as you don't use their chairs or anything... Don't know if anyone has had a problem with it...
