Something Different

Post by JT »

You rarely see any pics from Europa Bay. There is actually a swampy salt pond on the way from Lameshure that is quite lively early in the morning.

Very interesting. That's somewhere that I've never been to. We'll keep it in mind for the next trip.

What exactly do you mean by "lively"?

Augie, those shots were taken in 2003.We saw a young doe, many, many birds, including numerous hummingbirds, turtles, spiders, hermit crabs. We must have caught a lucky morning as the skeeters weren't bad. Europa is too rough to swim in, or at least it was that morning, but it really has a very calming feel to it, in a Zen-like way. I think it's only about a third of a mile, or less, from Little Lameshur.

Can you see that pond from the road? I remember passing a salt pond just before Little Lameshur.

Is the first photo a scan - it looks like I can see a crease in it. Very cool either way!

CalGirl, that pond is down the path at the end of the road to Lameshur, past the ranger's driveway, so no you can't see that pond from any road that I know of. There is another pond on the left as you approach Great Lameshur.
Anthony, Ithink those were print photos from a 35mm that I scanned into an old PC and was able to retrieve when I went to the Mac. Now you've got me wondering where the original prints and negatives are.

Ok, that's definitely a different pond. It looks like a cool little hike though, and with a gorgeous pay-off at the end! :D

That must be the one I'm thinking of!
