New Sports Bar, Cruz Bay...?

Post by mahojim »

Has anyone tried Castaways yet? (where "The Back Yard",and "Duffy's" were located...) Hopefully it'll still be open next May...
I'd love to hear about their wings!
Looks like a good time!

I saw that Crazy Crackers went out of business. (I still think that is was a horrible name.)

I was reading about this place on the News of St. John blog. Apparently there's a paper mache shark in the wall and when it appears everyone in the bar gets a free shot. I have to admit it doesn't sound very appealing to me. Maybe if I was still in college...
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

PAGirl-Yeah, me too. It was named after their dog, no?
We tried it out last April. The prices stunk, and the service was terrible. There was only one other couple in the place at the time, and the bartender was less than attentive, even for "island time". She only seemed polite when were leaving; too little too late! That, and there was some funky cloudy film floating on my dark & coke...
I'm sure the place made plenty of people happy, but not me.
Not sure about that shark thing, either, just looking forward to some good wings!

I have some friends who are devout wings fans and they swear by the wings at Spyglass upstairs in Wharfside Village and they go regularly for happy hour. Haven't made it up myself yet but apparently they have 6 different varieties. I'm also always pleasantly surprised when I get the wings at Beach Bar or Banana Deck.

As a true Buffalonian, I'm pretty picky about my wings. But we may have to try Spyglass if they're as good as you say. :)

Eric-
I've never enjoyed the wings at The Beach Bar, but I'm with you on The Banana Deck's wings. Pretty darned good.
I've never been to Spyglass, and can't wait to try them. Sucks that I have to wait 'til next May to try them.
Duffy's Love Shack on STT is my official "Wing Soul Crusher", though. Sweet & Tangy Fiji Wings; had those on STJ for the first time.
Thanks for your help, and always
