Calling STJ from the states
I wanted to make a few calls to island regarding excursions and rental cars etc. How do the calls (non 800#) show up on your phone bill? Is it just like calling another state in the US or is it International? Don't want to start racking up international rates on my work phone! Since it looks like a US area code and number and you don't have to dial any country codes, I am assuming it will be ok but just want to double check. Thanks!

Make sure to ask very specifically. When we switched to T-Mobile, I asked if the USVI were part of the plan. They said yes and showed me a map including the area. We vacation there enough that I wouldn't have signed up for a plan that didn't include STJ.
Then I called a STJ number with T-Mobile and I was charged over a dollar a minute. When I called to complain they said that the USVI are part of the network but that the rates are different.
With Sprint it was just like calling next door and the rates were the same as in the mainland.
Just a head's up.
On a related note, sometimes when you're on STJ you pick up a tower from the BVI's, and unless you have an international plan, you'll get charged an arm and a leg. So when you're there and making calls, be careful.
