Love mine, got it just a couple weeks ago; brought it down to St. John and had perfect AT&T coverage out by Reef Bay. I've become addicted to it I admit. Got a nice looking fake leather case for it that lets it stand up when I'm lying on the couch and using it

I don't know if I love my IPad or not I only got it Friday. It took all day Saturday to get it set up. There is a lot to it. It took forever to do the back-up. Since it was empty at the time I wonder what it was backing up.

I need like it so far. After I have used it a while I'll let you know if I love it.

I love my iPad too and I am using it to type this post. I really don't need a laptop.

My only complaint is the speaker is weak.

I think the main thing to know/remember/have in mind about this device is that is for consumption/entertainment, not work/making things. But, the email client is great, and since that is a lot of my "work" I sort of can use this for work too.

So basically as long as you are not expecting to edit photos, video, write HTML, or Word docs, etc. it is awesome. The complaint I keep hearing from friends is that they can not "do" enough on it - but it is obviously not for that. It is for watching, listening, surfing the web, etc. - consuming.

The speaker is definitely small - but overall I love how light it is, and how fast most things seem to work. Beside some light photo editing and maybe some hand coded HTML that I do, I think I can easily spend a lot of time on the iPad and not my laptop. I can't wait to use it in travel situations, and see how the wireless network works (I got a Vodafone sim today that will be activated by tomorrow - 15 euros a month). The WiFi seems great so far.

I love my ipad too...I do wish I could do more on it like Word, but I knew it couldn't when I got it.

Overall, it has way exceeded my expectations.

It is especially useful with two kids who want to et on the computer also, I can check email while they are on or I can lend them the ipad.

If you buy the "Pages" App you can work with Word dox. When you create a document in Pages, it asks you how you would like it to be saved/sent...you can select Word. Also, Pages can interface with another App called "Print Central" so that you can create, edit and print dox on the iPad.

For you crossword geeks out there (like me), the NYT Crossword App is great. For about $9 you can access archived puzzles and get all of the daily puzzles...including the Sunday puzzle.

Sorry for the double post, but I also think that you get more out of the iPad (and iPhone and Macs) if you spend the $99 a year for a MobileMe subscription.

Through MobileMe, if I enter something on my calendar or contact list...from any of those three devices, it automatically, wirelessly, syncs with the others.

So, if I am in a meeting and have my iPad and the client says, let's meet again on X date. When I check that date on my iPad and it is available, I know it really is. Then, when I enter the new meeting on that date on my iPad, it will show on my iPhone and Mac in a matter of seconds. That's cool.

I am an Apple fool. I love anything Apple, BUT, I have a Kindle, so I got a couple of questions for you guys.

iPad...the overheating. Have any of you had that happen? Friend in MI said he had that happen. Problem for me is that I live in the Caribbean, overheating is a big issue.

I would be afraid to take it to the beach. Brief rain showers, sunscreen on a touch pad, the sand, and the UV index of 13, not being able to see the screen in bright sunlight. How do you all feel about that?

I am not afraid to take the Kindle to the beach. I have a waterproof 'bag' that I can stick it in, it doesn't overheat, the charge lasts for 2 weeks, and I can read it in full sun. Of course it doesn't do much, but it does what I want it to do, act like a book. I'm not tempted to do much work

I am going to get moble me then. I thought it was automatic, but, noticed that it wasn't syncing. I thought I was doing something wrong.

I have an iPhone, iPad, and mac and want the 3 to sync. Would it also sync my notes and pages?

I have pages also. That was the first app I bought. It works find but I have used it often.

XOXO, I don't know about syncing notes and pages through Mobileme. I haven't tried that.

I do know that you can select what you want to sync once you have mobileme.

Mobileme also has a place called "idisc." If you place files from your laptop, let's say, in the idisc folder, you can access them from your iPhone or iPad.

I just checked and it will sync Notes. I don't think Pages will, though. But, I'm not sure you would want documents like those to sync.

If you do get Mobileme and have any questions on setting it up, feel free to PM me. It took me a bit of trial and error to figure it out and you probably could save some time as a result of my learning curve.

I took the big plunge today and bought a 64 gig/3G iPad! This thing is way too cool! I'm stumbling around a little with the key board, but I'm getting there.
You know, I don' t see daily newspapers being available for home delivery in 5 years. It will all be on this, or something like it. The paper, ink, and delivery just won't be cost effective, not to mention the hassle of making deadlines. The world is sure changing fast!
