How loud does it get at Wharfside (Beach Bar)?

Post by TropicAtHeart »

This question is for those who've actually stayed at Grande Bay, especially anyone who's stayed in the upper "D" building on the corner near Wharfside. Does the music from the Beach Bar become a problem in the evening or late at night if one is trying to enjoy your balcony or if it's late (after 11PM) trying to sleep, possibly with the AC on? I'm planning a trip for middle of July, so I'm not talking about noise from Carnival which is earlier in July.

We know we'll hear music, but is it obnoxious rock at night and for how long? We've been to St. John a number of years, but this will be the first time staying in Cruz Bay. We don't want to drive and like the walking distance. We've never been to the Beach Bar (we don't drink alcohol) so we don't know what type of clientele they cater too and therefore what kind of music, or if they aren't that loud anyhow. We're in our 30s/early 40s. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Stayed in that building for a couple of nights back in February.

Sleeping was no issue at all since our bedroom was on the backside of the building.

Can't say for sure how late the music goes since it wasn't an issue, but you could definitely hear it while out on the balcony. I didn't find it obnoxious at all but don't expect silence out on the balcony if they have live music. We were there on a Fri and Sat night - I don't think they have live music every night.

The convenience of being able to walk to restaurants was fantastic. I do drink, so being able to imbibe was a big plus. Usually I am the designated driver so not having to worry about that enabled me to have a wide variety of frozen drinks. And beers.

To sum it up, yes you can hear the music out on the balcony. Sleeping was no issue at all though.

Stayed in DP01 in June.

Sleeping was NO problem! You could hear the music from all the restaurants in Cruz Bay if you had the doors open or were out on the balcony but it was nice background with an island vibe and added to the experience!

Same here.

Stayed in a couple of "D" units. You can only hear the music if you are out on the balcony or have the door open and are in the living area.

We love spending a few days in the "big" city :D
