Pool going iguanas on STJ?

Post by irbgolfin »

I've heard of the sea going iguanas of the Galapagos, but never the pool going iguanas of St. John. They spent lots of time sunning next to the pool, but one day it must've gotten a little too hot so they hung on the edge and dipped halfway in the water! :D

I love it! I posted a pic of one sipping from the Westin pool. And I swam with one in St. Martin.

There were a couple of times they did their business on the pool ledge, which we just scooped a little pool water to wash away over the side. Then one day there was a deposit IN the pool. I assumed it was due to one of them being careless with their tail and a prior deposit on the ledge. Since the tail is twice as long as the body, and they don't seem to worry about controlling it when not in the trees, well, you get the idea.

After seeing them in the water, I'm not so sure.

Cute photos! Both times we rented a house on Maria Bluff we had iguanas in the pool. In fact we read in the guest book of one of the houses that another group had left the pool float in the pool overnight and came out the next day to find an igunana on it, floating across the pool!

I like iguanas. I won't feed them, but I hope I have some around my pool in a couple of weeks. I don't mind cleaning up after them. :)

This is the way they go POOP! We have several of these guys as pets here at school and they put their fannies in water to go potty. That's why I love seeing them around the house but don't want them anywhere near the pool....I know what they're doing!!!

I am so happy to report that I have learned something new today. My first thought was how cute- then I was reading the thread and decided that I will keep them away from the pool edge :D

Come on, Man!
They like the wet sex in the pool, too!
Guess they got the memo that even "after-sex-smoking" on STJ will soon be forbidden.
Bummer.
Great photos, though- Thanks and always
Smiles-
