Rookie Question

Post by Timethief »

Making our first trip to the island where we actually stay! We have been looking forward to doing this for quite some time. And yes, this is a very last minute trip (got the airline tickets just 2 days ago - accomodations yesterday).

The trip is going to be for 2 weeks (if you're gonna do it,....), staying at Cruz Views (which allows us to stay for 2 weeks). One of the logistical things I learned in the Navy was the importance of having a way to clean clothes! I don't think there is a laundry available at Cruz Views itself (feel free to dispell me of that impression if I am wrong). and I don't recall ever seeing a thread that talked about where laundromats are located in either Cruz Bay or Coral Bay.

I know that this is not necessarily an issue for those staying a week, but I thought I might want to do a mid-trip reset. Where would you go?

Thanks for the help!

Keep Smiling!!!! :D

Someone else will know better, but we always take along packets of travel size powder clothes detergent and wash things out in the tub, if needed.

From a previous thread...

I remember seeing a large laundromat on Centerline Rd - out of town - that had opened last fall... maybe Neptune Richard's. Would need a jeep or car I think.

I think someone that is on island the same days you are should let you use their villa washer and dryer. I know I would! Now that is what I call using the VIOL!

I'm thinking Gromit's answer, answers your question. However, being I'm not familiar with the names of the roads (it's a small Island so I don't tend to worry about things such as street names), I do recall seeing a laundromat on my walk between Dolphin & Starfish.

Since a rental villa buys water and pays a high price for electric service I feel sure they would encourage you to invite people over to do their Laundry while you are there------- -- maybe stop by the Campgrounds and put up a sign on one of the bulletin boards.

.
Gromit & BubblyBrenda are correct.
Two of the laundromats Gromit listed are
not far from the ferry dock. As Brenda said,
they are on the one way road between
the new Roundabout (the old Texaco) &
The Marketplace. Super easy to find & get to.

Definitely ask about drop off service
when you get to the laundromat.
Drop off service is not too expensive.
Lots of us who live here do not have
washing machines at home and we drop off.
If we locals can afford to do that,
it can't be too expensive.
