I also like Anguilla but it's been 5 years since we've been there. Our honeymoon was in Anguilla.steveo2916 wrote:I'll cast a vote for Anguilla. Fabulous beaches, outstanding restaurants, friendly people.
We also like Grand Cayman. Although it's a little commercialized, it's clean, safe and beautiful.
Cypressgirl - We usually make one stop in Ormond Beach for fuel (great fuel prices) and then split off straight for Abaco. I think a few airlines offer commercial flights to Abaco (maybe Continental, US Air, and American Eagle?) and there are many puddle jumpers from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. It's a hard place to get to, so it keeps it VERY sparsely visited and populated!

I googled and found "Culebra Island is U.S. territory and is located in the heart of the Caribbean, eight miles west of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and 12 miles east of Puerto Rico."Jim R wrote:Hands down the best after STJ is Culebra.
How do I not know this island exists! Sounds very nice.
Culebra
Flip-flop,
It's part of PR and you can get there by plane from San Juan - the flight is worth the cost of the ticket.
It's very small and laid back island with guest houses and a few small hotels in the town of Dewey.

We honeymooned there as well! Hedonism IIflip-flop wrote:I loved Negril, Jamaica - could take or leave the rest of that island. Negril has a hippy laid back vibe that I just loved. We honeymooned there.

Of course, that was almost 23 years ago...
As long as we stayed on the resort property it was great, but if we strayed outside of the resort we were set upon by people trying to sell everything from sea shells to ganja.

Time to start working on convincing the wife that we have to go back soon!

My wife and I stayed at an AI resort in Negril for our 10th anniversary. The last morning, to kill the time before we left we took one last kayak ride, looking for rays for Leslie.
As soon as we got out past the roped off area in front of the resort a guy on a jetski motored up close to us and asked, "do you want to buy some smoke?"
I guess he had waterproof matches also?
